For holidays or gatherings, I love having a flavored butter to serve alongside rolls or fresh sourdough. This whipped maple brown butter is one of my favorites. Serve this with your holiday meals for an extra special touch or gift it to neighbors for a unique homemade gift they are sure to love.

Total time
Serves: 8
Ingredients
- ½ cup + 3 tablespoons softened butter
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- Sea salt, to taste (will need more if using unsalted butter)
Instructions
- In a sauce pan over medium heat, melt ½ cup butter. Continue to cook butter, stirring frequently and adjusting temperature as needed, to allow butter to get brown bits on the bottom. Cook until butter becomes a golden brown color and smells nutty, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool until no longer hot. Transfer to a mixing bowl and allow to cool completely. You will want the butter to be solidified, but still at room temperature. Add 3 tablespoons softened butter to the mixing bowl and beat until well combined and mixture is light and fluffy. Add maple syrup and beat until well combined. Stir in salt. Serve or keep refrigerated, bringing to room temperature when ready to serve.
