I love a recipe that takes something fairly ordinary and makes it a little more memorable. Sandwiches are standard lunch and picnic fare, but switch out a few typical ingredients and they become a whole lot less boring.
This is the case with these black forest ham and Manchego sandwiches. The black forest ham has deeper flavor than standard ham, which is complemented by the nutty Manchego. These are great to make a little bit ahead of time and pack up for a lunch or dinner outside. Don’t skimp on the stone ground mustard and blackberry jam–the spiciness and sweetness they bring is delicious!
